This project involved both the investigation and remedial works phase of an ‘escape of water’ insurance claim for a homeowner under the supervision of an independent consulting engineer. The engineer recommended Substruck as we had worked together on a similar project in Clonmel back in 2016.

Part of the property had suffered from foundation movement as a result of a leaking water supply. This type leak can result in serious damage over a very short period of time compared to that of drainage.

The investigation consisted of the usual testing of services, trial holes and ground investigation. The purpose of the investigation was to confirm the damage to the underlying soils and provide data for an adequate and economic design to be provided.

The scope agreed between the engineers representing the insured and the insurance company was a series of micropile supported straddle and cantilever ground beams installed beneath the foundations; some of which had to be installed internally. As part of the works, the local drainage had to be removed and replaced.

Substruck acted as PSCS for the duration of our works until the insured engaged a local builder to take over the role for the crack repair and decoration element of the project to be completed at a later date. As built drawings and pile test results were provided to the engineer as part of our certificate of completion.
