This project was completed on behalf of one of the largest insurance providers in Ireland. The works were as a result of the operation of an insured peril (i.e. escape of water from a water supply) and the resultant structural damage to the property. Substruck was initially engaged to complete investigation works to confirm the operation of such a peril and provide ground investigation and other data to aid in the provision of an adequate and economic design solution.

The scope involved the underpinning of foundations via cementitious grouting or ground improvement, drainage and water supply replacement and reinstatement of all hard standing surfaces. In theory, this method of foundation remediation is not strictly under the definition of underpinning where the loads from the building are taken down to better strata in some manner. The design of such as solution is primarily based on experience and with Substruck in its 23rd year of business, we have this in abundance.

As the homeowner was elderly and some of the works were required in the kitchen area, temporary accommodation was secured for the insured. It is in very rare circumstances that the occupants are required to vacate the property during such works.

On completion, and after an agreed settlement period, the crack repair and decoration was completed by a general building contractor.
