Micropiling

IS EN 14199:2015 define micropiles as ‘drilled piles constructed using a drilling tool with a diameter less than 300 mm’, the majority of the load being resisted structurally by the reinforcement and geotechnically by the bond at the grout/soil interface.

As genuine specialist contractors, we have completed hundreds of micropiling projects all over the country since 2003. We have a solution for any foundation problem regardless of ground conditions, access limitations or loadings.

Our tracked micropiling rigs can travel through restricted access openings of 720mm and work in low headroom conditions of 2.3m. And if that fails, our Man Portable drilling rigs can work in the most awkward of locations. Our grout plants can mix both particulate and colloidal cement grout suspensions whilst discharging continuously at a rate of up to 60 litres per minutes and at pressures of up to 10 bar.

Capacity is determined by the diameter of the drilling tool and bar, length of micropile and the soil conditions. Testing is normally completed by integrity testing, dynamic load testing or tension testing, or a combination of all three, depending on the design requirements. Substruck Ltd. offers two types of micropiles.
