We are proud to be one of the very few specialist contractors in Ireland and Europe who have both exhumed and simulated micropiles for advanced research and development. This rare expertise enabled us to provide unique insights into micropile behaviour and performance that go far beyond standard practice.

In collaboration with Northumbria University, Newcastle, we undertook a series of controlled trials on a research site in Cork City, underlain by sands. These investigations were designed to rigorously assess the interaction between installation techniques, ground conditions, and micropile performance.

We have completed research on the following:

  • The effect of drill bit type on grout body diameter
  • The influence of spiralling on grout body and cover levels in sands
  • The impact of thread sealant on grouting pressures in sands
  • The relationship between grouting pressures, soil resistance and grout body enhancement factors in sands
  • The effect of thread type on grout body cracking in sands

Through these studies, we continue to advance both our technical knowledge and the state of practice in ground engineering, delivering innovation, reliability, and confidence to our clients and partners.
